The Significance of One

There is only one you. You’re the only person with your exact heritage, your precise series of events in the pilgrimage and sufferings of life that have brought you to this hour. You’re the only one with your personal convictions, your DNA makeup, your skills, your appearance, your touch, your voice, your style, your surroundings, your sphere of influence—you’re the only one. Nobody can do the things that God has called and gifted you to do.

In the biblical account of Esther, God determined that one person would make the difference. Esther is a woman of great character and courage. Here was a little girl who must have cried her heart out longing for a mommy and a daddy. Years later, though, she would become key to the very survival of her people. She was God’s person for the moment and in spite of her past, in spite of her brokenness, God used her. He can do the same for you!

Today, in America, we aren’t living with the threat of physical death, but God’s people are in distress! “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” - Hosea 4:6. We are facing relentless pressure in a culture that is growing increasingly intolerant of historic Christianity. We’re in the midst of a culture war that is hostile to people that take a stand against what the majority wants.

At some point, God separates the chaff from the wheat in His Church. We are called to stand in the gap and preach the gospel sharing the truth about Jesus Christ no matter the cost. How about you? Are you willing to take a stand for Him at work? At School? In public? Are you willing to say to God, “Here I am, use me in whatever way You choose?”

Vary true. We all have different contributions that can be made
