Faith that Works

Writer: Brian RichardBrian Richard

Last week, we saw that we only get one shot at this life, and what we do with what He has given us will reverberate for all of eternity. I want you to understand something fundamental here. When I say that you only get one shot and need to make the most of it… I am not saying that you need to lead 500 people to Christ, live a 99.5% perfect life, and read through the Bible every year until you die. That’s not what God expects. He desires faithfulness & obedience to whatever He’s called you to do. Your occupation, marital status, family situation, and local church service all play an important role in this. The Judgment Seat of Christ is an accounting between you and Christ for what you did with the life He gave you.

Remember: Your belief determines where you will spend eternity, but your behavior (works) determines how you will spend eternity. When you stand before Christ at the Judgment Seat, your beliefs won’t be tested – your destination won’t be tested – but your works will be tested for rewards gained or lost.

Imagine staring into the face of Christ. Just the two of you, one-on-one! Your entire life is present before you. In a flash, you see what He sees. No hiding. No opportunity to put a better spin on what you did. The look in His eyes says it all. Like it or not, that is precisely where you and I will be someday.

The Lord sees it all. The small, the hidden, and the unseen things we can hide from those around us. Others may never see the painstaking work and detail of our efforts, but God does. He knows the sacrifice you make. He sees the love you show – even a cup of water we give to the needy.” And He wants to show you how much He cares by giving rewards.
